I tell you and you forget, I teach you and you remember, I involve you and you understand.

This blog this morning has a different flavor to it.  As I sit here in Hospice Care with my mother I’m wondering about others who are experiencing this similar experience.  No one ever wants to experience the deep sorrow of this experience.

Some think there is a life after death and I personally believe that.  I’ve been a steward of God’s word for many years.  There is a life after death, but the question is where will you spend it?  We ultimately only have two choices one is heaven and the other is hell.

I know my mother will be attending heaven, which gives me great comfort.  Especially when I know she will be seeing Jesus our Great Redeemer!  Even in this blessed assurance it is still difficult.  This is the woman who birthed me.  The one the bible says God had fearfully and wonderfully made me in her womb.  We have come a long way since the moment I left her womb.

I’d like to introduce you to my mother.  She has always been so giving to others.  At home I remember always having someone living in our home that needed a place to stay for short times.  Our yard was always the one were other people hung out on our wonderful front porch with the porch swing and many chairs so that my mother could be her hospitable self.  People knew were to come to find their children playing hop scotch on the side walk, touch football in back yard, crochet or catching lightening bugs (or fireflies as some would call them) in the evening.  Many times on our huge picnic table out back we would have homemade ice cream or watermelon with a crowd of neighbors.

How do you say goodbye to someone you’ve been around your whole life.  I will not give up hope for a miracle.  So I’ll hang on to hope until I know what God’s ultimate desire for her is.  His word teaches us that God hates death and doesn’t want us to experience it, because His word says Jesus took the beatings and the stripes for our healing.

For you who have a loved one who is dying I pray for your comfort.  If you or your loved one knows the one who purchased our pardon then you can take comfort even though it is hard right now.

For those of you who have not received the redeemer Jesus into you or your loved ones life I implore you don’t wait make that decision today.

Love, love, love while there is time.  Take joy in each other’s company.  Make each day count because you never know when it may come to an end.
