A Sweeter Time

Do You Remember

Believe it or not there was a much sweeter time.  The time was in the 1950’s.  The pace was much slower.  People tend to take the time to walk across the street and speak to their neighbors.  What a concept, right?

In the 50’s people were more about family and making sure they were spending good quality time together.  I’m not saying that doesn’t go on today, but how often do you see it or hear about it?  Children knew their parents were there for them.  Mom’s usually stayed home and raised their children.  The father worked hard to make sure his family was taken care of and their families were their number one priorities.

Life was also centered within the church.  Families could be found there on Sunday’s, Sunday nights, and Wednesday night prayer meetings.  Also, they would come out on many occasions such as; special meetings or coming out to hear special speakers and singing.

Family reunions were big highlights and families loved getting together.  It may last a day to some times the whole week.

Today families rarely get together.  Life is much busier, and excuses are usually made, “I just don’t have the time.”  Why does there seems to be no time?  Government has caused so much hyperinflation and spending that is ridiculous.  Both parents have to work to make a living.  Also people want more and more things and therefore more money is required.

Do you think we will ever get back the sweeter time?  Hoping!
